When My Two Worlds Meet: Marketing, Memories, and Quilting
I’ve spent a lot of my professional life in the world of marketing—thinking about branding, strategies, and how to tell a company’s story. It’s work I love, but people often ask me: "How does that fit with your quilting?"
At first, they seem like total opposites. One is all digital and fast-paced; the other is tactile, slow, and quiet. But lately, as I’ve been sitting in my workspace planning out projects for 2026, I realized they aren't that different at all.
When someone brings me a box of clothes or asks me to create a quilt for a new grandbaby, we aren't just "picking colors." We’re doing exactly what I do in the marketing world: we’re finding the heart of the story.
In marketing, you look for the "why" behind a brand. In quilting, I’m looking for the "why" behind the quilt:
Is this quilt meant to be a warm hug for someone who just lost a loved one?
Is it a celebration of a wild, messy childhood?
Is it a "rebrand" for a bedroom that needs to feel like a sanctuary?
Is it a “memorial” to be displayed with reverence and love?
I LOVE finding the why. It’s one of my favorite parts of this "job" (though maybe they all are my favorites 🤣). It’s the conversations that mean the most. I love taking those scattered memories and ideas—the "marketing bits" —and figuring out how to stitch them into something cohesive and beautiful.
I’ve realized that my brain just works this way. Whether I’m organizing a spreadsheet or choosing the perfect binding for a quilt, I’m looking for the thread that ties everything together.
I’m so excited for the stories I get to help you tell this year. If you have a box of memories sitting in a closet or a room that needs a little more "you" in it, let’s chat. I’d love to help you design something that feels like home.
