The Story Written in My Logo: A Tribute for National Handwriting Day

Today is National Handwriting Day, and while most of the world is busy typing on keyboards, I’m spending a moment looking at the most important script in my life: my logo. If you’ve ever wondered why the "Lots of Love" and the "Killey" look a little different from each other, it’s because they weren't created by a graphic designer—they were written by my grandmothers.

As I shared in my very first post, this business was built on the foundation of  two  of the incredible women who helped shaped me. The "Lots of Love" comes directly from the letters signed by my maternal grandmother. The "Killey"—my maternal great-grandmother’s maiden name—is written in the distinctive script of my paternal grandmother.

In the world of quilting, we talk a lot about "signatures." Sometimes it’s a specific stitch pattern, and sometimes it’s a label. To me, handwriting is the ultimate fingerprint of a person’s spirit. Seeing their loops and lines merged together in my logo reminds me every day of their crafty hands and boundless creativity.

One of my grandmas taught me that a quilt’s truest purpose is to be loved into existence. By using their handwriting as my brand, I am promising to bring that same love and attention to every stitch I sew for you. Whether I’m working on a vibrant  custom quilt or a delicate memory project, I am honoring the hands that taught me.

A quilt is a giant hug you can wrap yourself in, and mine are signed with the handwriting of the women who gave the best hugs of all.
